Favinia La Muciara is a remarkable testament to heroic viticulture, born from the wind-swept Calamoni estate on the remote island of Favignana, part of the Egadi archipelago off the western coast of Sicily. This maritime vineyard sits mere meters from the sea, planted on a unique soil of calcarenite—a marine limestone rich in ancient fossils. The wine's name, 'La Muciara', pays homage to the traditional wooden boats used in the historic 'tonnara' (tuna fishing) of the island, deeply weaving the wine into Favignana's maritime heritage. Crafted from a blend of Grillo, Catarratto, and Zibibbo, the grapes are nurtured by intense sunshine and constant sea breezes, which coat the vines in a fine layer of salt. The resulting wine is fermented in stainless steel to preserve its pristine purity, capturing an extraordinary saline character, vibrant citrus notes, and delicate floral aromas of orange blossom.
