Favinia Le Sciabiche is a remarkable maritime red wine born from Firriato's heroic viticulture project on the island of Favignana, the largest of the Egadi archipelago off the western coast of Sicily. Grown at the Calamoni Estate, the only vineyard on the island, the vines thrive just meters from the sea in soils composed of bio-calcarenite rich in marine fossils. The wine's name, 'Le Sciabiche', pays homage to the traditional dragnets historically used by the island's fishermen, linking the wine directly to Favignana's ancient seafaring and tuna-fishing heritage. This unique island terroir, characterized by intense sun, constant marine winds, and sea spray, shapes a red wine of extraordinary mineral complexity, balancing wild red berry notes with a distinct, refreshing salinity.
