Le Sabbie dell'Etna Rosso, which translates to 'The Sands of Etna,' is a profound liquid tribute to Europe's most active volcano. Grown on the high-altitude, black volcanic sands of Firriato's Cavanera estate on the northeastern slopes of Mount Etna, this wine captures the raw, dramatic energy of its terroir. According to ancient mythology, the fiery depths of Etna housed the forge of Hephaestus, and this wine carries a distinct smoky, mineral tension that feels born of fire and stone. Crafted primarily from the native Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, the wine undergoes traditional red vinification and is aged in French oak barrels to soften its vibrant mountain tannins while preserving its bright red fruit character and signature volcanic minerality. It represents a masterclass in elegant, high-altitude Sicilian winemaking.

Firriato blev grundlagt i 1984 af Salvatore Di Gaetano og hans hustru Vinizia Novara og regnes i dag blandt Siciliens førende vinproducenter med stor anerkendelse for deres rolle i øens vinøse renæssance.
