Ried Klostersatz is one of the oldest recorded vineyard sites in the Wachau, its name paying homage to the Salzburg monasteries ('Kloster') that cultivated these soils during the Middle Ages. Situated on a flat, ancient river terrace of the Danube in Oberloiben, the terroir is characterized by deep soils of fine loess, sand, and river gravels. This unique soil composition allows the vines to absorb warmth easily, resulting in a Grüner Veltliner of exceptional aromatic lift, juicy stone fruit character, and a refined, mineral-driven acidity. F.X. Pichler crafts this wine with meticulous hand-harvesting and gentle aging in large, neutral Austrian oak casks, preserving the vibrant purity and classic white pepper spice of the variety.
