Hailing from the legendary, sun-drenched terraces of the Loibenberg vineyard, this rare Smaragd-tier Gelber Muskateller showcases the absolute pinnacle of Austrian aromatic winemaking. First documented in 1381, the Loibenberg is a monumental, south-facing amphitheater of weathered primary rock and loess. Here, warm Pannonian air currents collide with cool Alpine breezes, creating a dramatic diurnal temperature shift that coaxes intense, exotic aromatics from the grapes while preserving their electric acidity. F.X. Pichler treats this historically niche variety with the same reverence as their iconic Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners. Named after the 'Smaragd'—the shimmering emerald-green lizards that dart across the warm stone walls of the Wachau terraces—this wine represents the highest ripeness classification in the region, resulting in a dry white wine of extraordinary concentration, mineral tension, and complex herbal depth.

Weingut F.X. Pichler blev grundlagt i Oberloiben i 1898 og regnes i dag blandt de absolut førende topproducenter i østrigske Wachau. Vingården opnåede international kultstatus under Franz Xaver Pichler fra 1971 og frem, og i dag videreføres arven af syvende generation, Lucas Pichler, sammen med hustruen Johanna. Ejendommen råder over cirka 20 hektar vinmarker, der primært breder sig over stejle, håndbyggede stenterrasser med ursten, forvitret gnejs, amfibolit og løss. I det unikke mikroklima langs Donau, hvor varme pannoniske vinde møder kølige alpine luftstrømme, skaber Pichler monumentale, tørre hvidvine præget af knivskarp mineralsk præcision, dybde og exceptionelt lagringspotentiale. Familien har omlagt til certificeret økologisk dyrkning og valgte frivilligt at forlade Vinea Wachau-klassifikationen for kompromisløst at fokusere på terroirdrevet marktypicitet under Wachau DAC.
