✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the heart of Spain's Penedès region in Catalonia, Freixenet's Carta Nevada is an iconic ambassador of Cava heritage. First introduced in 1941 in its signature frosted white bottle, this sparkling wine is crafted using the traditional method, where the secondary fermentation takes place entirely in the bottle. It is built upon the classic Catalan trinity of indigenous grapes: Macabeo, which brings floral aromas and acidity; Xarel·lo, providing structure and body; and Parellada, lending elegance and freshness. Aged on its lees to develop a delicate complexity, Carta Nevada Brut Reserva embodies the vibrant, festive spirit of San Sadurní d'Anoia, offering a balanced profile of bright citrus, green apple, and subtle toasted brioche notes.

Established in 1914 following the marriage of Pedro Ferrer Bosch and Dolores Sala Vivé, Freixenet traces its winemaking roots back to the 1861 founding of Casa Sala in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Spain. Located in the heart of the Penedès region in Catalonia, the house pioneered the production of Spanish sparkling wine using the traditional method, utilizing classic indigenous grape varieties like Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada. Freixenet is globally renowned for its iconic expressions, most notably the black-bottled Cordon Negro launched in 1974, alongside the prestigious Casa Sala Gran Reserva and the elegant Elyssia range. Today, the winery remains a symbol of Catalan sparkling wine heritage, blending centuries-old craftsmanship with modern innovation to define the global standard for Cava.
