✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the historic CastelGiocondo estate in Montalcino, a fortress dating back to 1100, Lamaione is a powerful and elegant expression of 100% Merlot. First released in 1991, this pioneering Super Tuscan challenges the regional dominance of Sangiovese. The secret to its greatness lies in the single-vineyard Lamaione terroir, characterized by ancient, mineral-rich blue clay soils situated 300 meters above sea level. This unique soil retains moisture during hot Tuscan summers, allowing the Merlot grapes to ripen slowly and develop intense concentration. The wine is aged for approximately 24 months in French oak barriques, followed by further refinement in the bottle, resulting in a complex profile of dark bramble fruit, chocolate, sweet spices, and velvety, structured tannins.
