Castello di Nipozzano, a historic fortress built around the year 1000 to defend Florence, is the birthplace of this iconic Tuscan red. The estate's name, meaning 'without a well,' pays homage to the arid, stony, and free-draining soils of the Chianti Rufina appellation, which force the vines to dig deep for water, yielding grapes of intense concentration and structure. Crafted predominantly from Sangiovese alongside complementary varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Colorino, this Riserva represents a centuries-old winemaking legacy. Renowned historical figures, including the Renaissance master Donatello, famously purchased wine from this very estate. The wine is aged in oak barrels to refine its firm tannins, resulting in a vibrant, ruby-red expression defined by wild berry aromas, dark cherry, elegant floral notes, and a distinct, mineral-driven finish reflecting its high-altitude terroir.
