Founded in 1827, the house of Mumm introduced the famous red ribbon—the Cordon Rouge—in 1876 as a tribute to the French Legion of Honour. While the standard Cordon Rouge showcases vibrant, youthful freshness, this special '6 Ans' cuvee is aged on its lees for a minimum of six years in the historic chalk cellars of Reims. This extended maturation allows the Pinot Noir-dominant blend, sourced heavily from the prestigious Grand Crus of the Montagne de Reims, to develop remarkable depth. The dominant Pinot Noir provides structure and power, while the long autolysis imparts rich notes of toasted brioche, honeyed stone fruit, and roasted nuts, all balanced by a fine, persistent effervescence.

Established in Reims in 1827 by the German winemaking Mumm family, Maison G.H. Mumm has long stood as an archetype of Pinot Noir-driven Champagne excellence. The estate oversees nearly 218 hectares of premier vineyards, anchored in historic Grand Cru terroirs across the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, including prime holdings in Verzenay, Mailly, Bouzy, and Ambonnay. These sites benefit from porous Campanian chalk subsoils, optimal solar aspects, and a cool semi-continental climate, yielding grapes with remarkable structure, energy, and tension.
