G.H. Mumm's Cordon Rouge Millésimé is a prestigious expression of a single exceptional harvest, capturing the unique climate and character of a specific year. Established in 1827, the house of Mumm introduced the iconic red silk ribbon—the Cordon Rouge—in 1876 as a tribute to the French Légion d'Honneur. This vintage cuvée is crafted with a dominant proportion of Pinot Noir, primarily sourced from the historic Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims such as Verzenay and Bouzy, which imparts structure, power, and rich red-fruit notes. Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs is blended in to provide elegance, minerality, and vibrant acidity. Following traditional Méthode Champenoise, the wine undergoes extended cellar aging on its lees for several years, far exceeding the appellation's legal requirements. This patient maturation develops a complex aromatic profile of brioche, toasted nuts, and ripe stone fruits, underpinned by a fine, persistent effervescence that reflects the chalky soils of Champagne.

Maison G.H. Mumm blev grundlagt i Reims i 1827 af den tyske vinbondefamilie Mumm og har længe været indbegrebet af Pinot Noir-fokuseret champagne i særklasse. Huset råder over næsten 218 hektar førsteklasses vinmarker med dybe rødder i historiske Grand Cru-terroirs på tværs af Montagne de Reims og Côte des Blancs, herunder fremragende parceller i Verzenay, Mailly, Bouzy og Ambonnay. Vinmarkerne nyder godt af en porøs undergrund af campaniansk kridt, optimale solforhold og et køligt semikontinentalt klima, hvilket tilfører druerne en bemærkelsesværdig struktur, energi og rank nerve. Mumm arbejder under de strenge certificeringer Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) og Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) og har fuldstændigt udfaset kemiske ukrudtsmidler på egne parceller. Vinifikationen er præget af præcis parcel-for-parcel-gæring på ståltanke, en delvis blokering af den malolaktiske gæring for at bevare en spændstig syre samt langvarig lagring i 25 kilometer underjordiske kridtkældre. Blandt husets mest ikoniske champagner finder man den verdenskendte Cordon Rouge, den prestigefyldte og terroir-fokuserede RSRV-serie samt kronjuvelen Cuvée R. Lalou.
