✨ Technical Specifications

G.H. Mumm's Millesime is a prestigious expression of a single exceptional harvest, showcasing the house's historic mastery of Pinot Noir. Founded in 1827, the house of G.H. Mumm has long been associated with royal courts and grand celebrations. This vintage cuvee is crafted predominantly from Pinot Noir sourced from the historic Grand Cru terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, which provides structure and power, beautifully balanced by elegant Chardonnay from the Cote des Blancs. Following traditional Champagne methods, the wine undergoes extended cellar aging on its lees for several years, far exceeding the appellation's minimum requirements. This patient maturation allows the wine to develop a rich autolytic character of toasted brioche, honeyed stone fruits, and refined minerality, while maintaining the vibrant freshness and precision characteristic of the house's demanding standards.

🍾 About the Producer

Established in Reims in 1827 by the German winemaking Mumm family, Maison G.H. Mumm has long stood as an archetype of Pinot Noir-driven Champagne excellence. The estate oversees nearly 218 hectares of premier vineyards, anchored in historic Grand Cru terroirs across the Montagne de Reims and the CΓ΄te des Blancs, including prime holdings in Verzenay, Mailly, Bouzy, and Ambonnay. These sites benefit from porous Campanian chalk subsoils, optimal solar aspects, and a cool semi-continental climate, yielding grapes with remarkable structure, energy, and tension. Operating under strict Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (VDC) and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certifications, the house eliminated chemical herbicides across estate parcels. Winemaking emphasizes precise parcel-by-parcel vinification in stainless steel, partial blocking of malolactic fermentation to retain vibrant acidity, and extensive aging in 25 kilometers of subterranean chalk cellars. Landmark expressions include the universally recognized Cordon Rouge, the prestigious terroir-focused RSRV collection, and the pinnacle CuvΓ©e R. Lalou.
