The 'Laurus' range by Gabriel Meffre takes its name from the Latin word for laurel, a classical symbol of triumph and distinction that pays homage to the Roman heritage deeply rooted in the southern French landscape. For this Viognier, grapes are selected from choice vineyard parcels within the Pays d'Oc, where clay-limestone soils and Mediterranean sunshine allow the notoriously finicky variety to achieve optimal ripeness. In keeping with the Laurus philosophy of structure and refinement, a portion of the cuvée undergoes fermentation and aging in custom-designed oak demi-muids. This careful wood contact imparts a creamy texture and delicate spicy complexity, beautifully balancing the grape's natural exuberance without overshadowing its signature fresh profile.
