Debuting with the 1983 vintage, Gaia & Rey represents a revolutionary milestone in Italian viticulture as the first white wine produced by the legendary Gaja estate. Angelo Gaja named this groundbreaking 100% Chardonnay after his eldest daughter, Gaia, and his grandmother, Clotilde Rey, who instilled the family's uncompromising dedication to quality. Grown in the clay-limestone soils of Treiso and Serralunga d'Alba within the Langhe hills, this wine shattered the myth that Piedmont was solely a red wine region. Fermented and aged in French oak barriques, Gaia & Rey is celebrated for its rich, structured complexity, balancing vibrant acidity with opulent notes of stone fruit, toasted nuts, and mineral depth, echoing the elegance and power of fine white Burgundy while retaining its distinct Piedmontese soul.

Gaja blev grundlagt i 1859 af Giovanni Gaja i landsbyen Barbaresco i Piemonte og har siden udviklet sig til et af verdens mest berømte og visionære vinhuse.
