Crafted by the legendary Gaja family at their Tuscan estate, Pieve Santa Restituta, Sugarille is a benchmark single-vineyard Brunello di Montalcino. The vineyard's history is deeply rooted in the region, with records of its name—derived from sughero, the Italian word for cork oak trees that once dotted the area—dating back to 1547 in the parish archives. Composed of 100% Sangiovese grown in stony, calcareous clay soils known as galestro, this wine benefits from a perfect southern exposure. Gaja's meticulous approach combines traditional Tuscan soul with modern precision, utilizing controlled fermentation followed by extensive aging in oak barrels. The result is a majestic, muscular red showcasing complex layers of dark cherry, wild herbs, leather, and flinty minerality, wrapped in firm, noble tannins.
