The Frei Ranch Vineyard, nestled in the heart of Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley, carries a rich viticultural legacy that became a cornerstone of the Gallo family's premium winemaking portfolio. Acquired by Julio Gallo in the late 1970s, this historic ranch features gravelly clay loam soils and a microclimate characterized by warm, sun-drenched days followed by cool, foggy nights. This dramatic diurnal shift allows the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, developing deep color, intense black fruit flavors, and robust structural tannins. Traditionally aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, this single-vineyard bottling represents a classic, muscular expression of Sonoma Cabernet, balancing ripe blackberry and cassis notes with hints of cocoa, cedar, and earth.
