Domaine du Pourpre is a classic expression of Beaujolais, crafted under the legendary négociant house of Georges Duboeuf, the 'King of Beaujolais' who popularized the region's wines globally. Made entirely from the Gamay grape, this wine hails from vineyards characterized by granite-rich soils that impart a distinct mineral undertone to the bright fruit. The name 'Pourpre' pays homage to the brilliant, deep purple hue of the freshly pressed Gamay juice. Utilizing traditional semi-carbonic maceration, the winemaking process coaxes out vibrant aromas of red berries, violets, and subtle spice while keeping tannins remarkably soft and approachable. This technique captures the joyful, fruit-forward spirit that has defined the bistros of Lyon and Paris for generations.

Founded in 1964 by the visionary Georges Duboeuf in Romanèche-Thorins, Les Vins Georges Duboeuf is credited with popularizing Beaujolais wines, particularly Beaujolais Nouveau, on a global scale. The family-owned merchant house works closely with local growers to showcase the diverse terroirs of the region, from the vibrant, fruit-forward Gamay of the Beaujolais AOC to the structured, age-worthy Cru expressions of Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent. Their portfolio includes celebrated estate partnerships such as Jean Descombes and Clos des Quatre Vents, alongside varietal wines from the Pays d'Oc and Rhône. Today, the estate continues to champion the expressive, approachable, and elegant red wines of eastern France under the guidance of the Duboeuf family.
