Hailing from one of the most revered climats of the Morgon Cru in Beaujolais, the Javernieres bottling by Georges Duboeuf showcases the serious, age-worthy side of the Gamay grape. Situated at the foot of the famous Cote du Py hill, the Javernieres vineyard is celebrated for its unique soil composed of deep clay and iron oxide, which imparts a distinct structure, power, and mineral depth to the wine. Georges Duboeuf, historically known as the King of Beaujolais, selected this site to demonstrate that Gamay can achieve Burgundian complexity. Traditionally vinified to highlight the terroir, this wine undergoes aging that softens its robust tannins while preserving its vibrant dark cherry, violet, and plum fruit. Over time, it undergoes the local phenomenon known as morgonner, where the wine develops earthy, forest floor, and tertiary notes closely resembling aged Pinot Noir.
