Crafted from the Rubin grape—a uniquely Bulgarian cross of Nebbiolo and Syrah created in 1944—this wine represents a modern renaissance of indigenous Balkan viticulture. Sourced from the historic Brestovitsa Vineyard in the Thracian Valley, the vines thrive in clay-limestone soils strewn with gravel, benefiting from the warm continental climate tempered by cool night breezes descending from the nearby Rhodope Mountains. Winemakers Petar Georgiev and Radostin Milkov employ a low-intervention approach, utilizing spontaneous fermentation and careful oak aging to preserve the grape's natural vibrance. The resulting wine beautifully marries the structural, high-toned tannic backbone of Nebbiolo with the deep color, plush dark fruit, and peppery spice characteristic of Syrah.
