G rard Bertrand's 'An 560' pays homage to a pivotal moment in Mediterranean history: the year 560 BC, when Greek sailors first landed on the southern coast of France, introducing the very first grapevines to the region. Sourced from the sun-drenched, wind-swept terroirs of Roussillon, this cuv e captures the wild, untamed spirit of the landscape. The wine is typically a classic Southern French blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan, grown on complex soils of schist, limestone, and clay. To preserve the vibrant fruit character while adding structure, a portion of the grapes undergoes carbonic maceration, while the remaining varietals are traditionally fermented and matured in French oak barrels. The result is a deeply concentrated, aromatic red that bridges ancient history with modern winemaking excellence.
