G rard Bertrand's Cote des Roses series celebrates the Mediterranean lifestyle and the beautiful coastal terroir of the Languedoc. The Pinot Noir from the IGP Pays d'Oc benefits from a landscape where the warm Mediterranean sun is tempered by cool sea breezes, allowing this notoriously finicky grape to develop its signature red-fruit character while maintaining vibrant acidity. The wine's iconic bottle is a work of art in itself, featuring a base sculpted in the shape of a rose, created by a young designer from the cole Boulle as an homage to the wild roses that grow near the coastal vineyards. Vinified with a focus on preserving fresh fruit, the wine undergoes careful temperature-controlled fermentation to highlight notes of cherry, wild raspberry, and a touch of sweet spice, capturing the poetic, relaxed essence of the South of France.
🍾 Om vinhuset / producenten
Vinhuset blev grundlagt i 1992 af den tidligere franske landsholdsspiller i rugby, Gérard Bertrand, som videreførte arven efter sin far Georges på Domaine de Villemajou. Siden har ejendommen etableret sig som en ubestridt pioner inden for kvalitetsvin i Languedoc. Med base på kystejendommen Château l'Hospitalet i det kalkstensrige La Clape-massiv råder Bertrand over mere end 900 hektar vinmarker fordelt på førsteklasses terroirs i Corbières, Minervois-La-Livinière, Terrasses du Larzac og Limoux. Huset er i dag verdens største producent af Demeter-certificerede biodynamiske vine, hvor arbejdet styres af regenerativt landbrug, månens cyklusser og en kompromisløs drift uden kemiske sprøjtemidler. I kælderen forenes præcis temperaturstyring, spontangæring med naturlig gær og skræddersyet modning på franske egetræsfade for at fremhæve den autentiske sydfranske typicitet. Porteføljen spænder fra ikoniske enkeltmarks-crus som Clos d'Ora, Clos du Temple og Cigalus til levende, terroir-drevne hvid- og rødvine samt fejrede middelhavscuvéer som Côte des Roses.
