G rard Bertrand, a visionary winemaker and former rugby champion, has dedicated his life to showcasing the diverse terroirs of the Languedoc. The 'Grand Terroir' series serves as a liquid map of this ancient winemaking region, where vines have thrived since Roman times. This red blend typically unites classic Mediterranean grape varieties—Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan—harvested from rugged, sun-drenched hillsides characterized by limestone, clay, and schist soils. The winemaking combines traditional fermentation with partial carbonic maceration to preserve bright fruit aromatics, followed by aging in French oak barrels. The resulting wine captures the essence of the wild Mediterranean landscape, whispering of the wind-swept garrigue, wild thyme, and rosemary that grow alongside the vineyards.

Founded by former international rugby player Gérard Bertrand in 1992, the Gérard Bertrand estate has grown from its family roots at Domaine de Villemajou into a global benchmark for the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.
