Gerard Bertrand is a towering figure in the modern renaissance of Languedoc winemaking. A former professional rugby player, Bertrand inherited his passion for the vine from his father, Georges, and has since become a global champion of the region's diverse terroirs and biodynamic farming. The Reserve Speciale Syrah is a pure varietal expression sourced from select vineyards across the sun-drenched hillsides of the Pays d'Oc. Here, the Mediterranean climate is tempered by cooling maritime breezes, allowing the Syrah grapes to ripen fully while retaining vital acidity. The soils, a mosaic of limestone, clay, and schist, impart a subtle mineral complexity. In the cellar, the grapes undergo traditional maceration with precise temperature control to extract deep color and supple tannins, followed by partial aging in French oak. The result is a classic Southern French Syrah, boasting rich aromas of wild blackberries, violets, and a signature grind of black pepper.
