G rard Bertrand's Villa Soleilla is a masterful tribute to the ancient origins of winemaking, crafted as an exceptional orange (skin-contact) wine from the rugged, sun-drenched terroir of the Languedoc near the Mediterranean coast. Sourced from biodynamically farmed vineyards at Ch teau l'Hospitalet, this cuv e typically blends classic southern French white varieties—predominantly Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Viognier. The wine undergoes maceration with whole bunches and skin contact, followed by aging in both oak barrels and traditional clay amphorae. This ancient vessel choice honors the 8,000-year-old Georgian tradition of orange wine production. The resulting wine is beautifully structured, displaying a luminous amber hue, complex aromas of dried apricots, orange peel, and sweet spices, balanced by a refined tannic texture and a saline, mineral finish reflecting its coastal origin.
