Glenfiddich's 'Straight Malt' holds a legendary place in spirits history as the bottling that effectively launched the global single malt Scotch whisky category in 1963. Prior to this landmark release, the global market was dominated almost entirely by blended whiskies, with single malts reserved primarily for blending or local Scottish consumption. Hailing from Dufftown in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, this historic expression was crafted using 100% malted barley, pristine water from the Robbie Dhu spring, and distilled in Glenfiddich's signature small copper pot stills before aging in oak casks. The term 'Straight Malt' was the historical precursor to what we now know as 'Single Malt'. It established the classic Speyside style: elegant, approachable, and fragrant, characterized by notes of fresh pear, subtle oak, and delicate floral undertones, reflecting the visionary spirit of the Grant family.

Founded in 1886 by William Grant and constructed by hand with the help of his family, Glenfiddich Distillery is situated in the heart of Dufftown in Scotland's renowned Speyside region. Still independently owned by William Grant & Sons, the distillery made history in 1963 by pioneering the international single malt Scotch whisky category beyond traditional blended scotch. Glenfiddich crafts its spirits using the pristine waters of the nearby Robbie Dhu springs, distilling through distinctive copper pot stills and maintaining its own on-site cooperage to oversee maturation in premium American and European oak casks.
