The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve is a masterclass in selective maturation, famously being one of the first single malts to utilize French Limousin oak casksβthe very same wood highly prized for aging fine Cognacs. This low-density wood is sourced from the Dordogne region of France and imparts a distinctive, elegant spiciness to the spirit. The whisky begins its journey in traditional oak casks before a portion is transferred to the French oak, seamlessly blending Speyside's classic orchard fruit character with rich, buttery notes and warm, exotic spices. This expression pays homage to the pioneering spirit of founder George Smith, who secured the first legal distillery license in the parish of Glenlivet in 1824 despite fierce opposition from local illicit distillers.

Established in 1824 by George Smith in the remote Glenlivet valley of Speyside, Scotland, The Glenlivet is legendary as the first licensed distillery in the parish, setting the standard for Speyside single malts. Now owned by Pernod Ricard, the distillery draws its mineral-rich water from Josie's Well and utilizes lantern-shaped copper pot stills to produce a characteristically bright, elegant, and fruity spirit. The Glenlivet is globally renowned for its exceptional wood management, utilizing traditional oak, American white oak, and French Limousin oak casks to age signature expressions such as the 12 Year Old, the 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve, and the rare Winchester Collection.
