Crafted by Glenmorangie's Director of Whisky Creation, Dr. Bill Lumsden, 'A Tale of Tokyo' is an innovative Highland single malt Scotch whisky inspired by the vibrant contrasts of Japan's capital. This expression is a masterclass in wood management, marrying Glenmorangie aged in traditional Bourbon and Sherry casks with spirit finished in rare, highly sought-after Japanese Mizunara oak. Mizunara trees take up to 200 years to mature and are notoriously difficult for cooperage due to their porous, knotty nature, yet they impart a legendary aromatic profile. The resulting whisky beautifully juxtaposes the distillery's signature heather honey and citrus elegance with exotic notes of sandalwood, incense, sweet ginger, and bitter cherry, capturing the sensory collision of Tokyo's bustling neon streets and serene temple gardens.
