Hailing from the legendary Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, Ross-shire, the 'Milsean' (Scots Gaelic for 'sweet things') represents the seventh annual release in the distillery's acclaimed Private Edition series. This Highland single malt is celebrated for its innovative double-maturation process. Initially aged in ex-bourbon oak casks, it was then transferred for a multi-year finish in deeply toasted Portuguese red wine barriques—a pioneering technique overseen by Dr. Bill Lumsden. Glenmorangie’s signature copper stills, the tallest in Scotland, produce an exceptionally light and elegant spirit, which here absorbs the caramelized, candy-like sweetness of the toasted wine casks. The result is a whimsical, nostalgic dram reminiscent of an old-fashioned sweet shop, bursting with notes of candied orange peel, cherry, angelica, and sweet spices.
