🍷 Vintage Profile
The 2023 growing season across South Australia was shaped by persistent La Niña conditions, delivering a cool, damp spring that delayed budburst and demanded rigorous canopy oversight against mildew pressures. An unusually mild, protracted summer followed, facilitating slow and steady sugar accumulation while retaining high natural acidity and fine, peppered fruit aromatics over sheer alcoholic weight. Lauded regionally as a vintage of freshness and restraint rather than heavy extraction, this Shiraz is drinking dynamically in 2026 with optimal cellaring potential extending through 2030.

✨ Technical Specifications
Sourced across premier vineyard parcels in South Australia, this cuvée captures the broad-spectrum generosity of the region's warm Mediterranean climate and diverse alluvial soil profiles. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve bold primary fruit aromatics, accompanied by structured pumping-over regimes to extract supple tannins. Following malolactic conversion, the wine matures in seasoned French and American oak barrels for approximately 12 months, integrating wood spice with the variety's inherent dark fruit density.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1988 by fifth-generation vigneron Grant Burge and his wife Helen, Grant Burge Wines represents one of the modern cornerstones of the Barossa Valley viticultural landscape. The estate builds upon deep familial roots tracing back to Meshach Burge's earliest winemaking endeavors in 1865. Sourcing fruit predominantly from the southern reaches of the Barossa floor as well as higher-elevation sites in Eden Valley, the viticultural footprint spans ancient red-brown earths, sand, and clay loams under a warm Mediterranean climate tempered by cool gully breezes. Guided since 1993 by chief winemaker Craig Stansborough, the house philosophy balances regional richness and fruit generosity with contemporary structural polish. Benchmark bottlings include the flagship Meshach Shiraz—sourced from venerable old vines planted as far back as 1920—alongside the centenary-vine Filsell Shiraz, The Holy Trinity Grenache-Shiraz-Mourvèdre, and Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon, all exemplifying the concentration, savory complexity, and longevity of classic South Australian terroir.
