✨ Technical Specifications
Crafted by Johannes Hasselbach of the historic Gunderloch estate, 'Als wär's ein Stück von mir' (meaning 'As if it were a piece of me') is a deeply personal dry Riesling that pays homage to the famous German playwright Carl Zuckmayer, a native of Nackenheim. This wine is sourced from the steep, iron-rich red clay-slate soils of the legendary 'Roter Hang' (Red Slope) in Nackenheim. Fermented spontaneously with native yeasts and aged on its fine lees in traditional large oak casks, this Riesling is made with minimal intervention to preserve the raw, vibrant energy of its terroir. It offers a striking tension between smoky, salty minerality, ripe stone fruit, and wild herbal notes, capturing the very soul of the Rheinhessen's most famous slope.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1890 by banker Carl Gunderloch, Weingut Gunderloch is an esteemed estate located in Nackenheim along the Rhine in Germany's Rheinhessen region. Now meticulously stewarded across generations by the Hasselbach family, the estate is renowned for its historic holdings in the steep, red-slate terraces of the famous Roter Hang, particularly the grand cru Nackenheimer Rothenberg. Practicing attentive, terroir-focused viticulture, the winery crafts exceptional, mineral-driven Rieslings that span crystalline dry single-vineyard bottlings to legendary, long-lived noble sweet dessert wines such as Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. Gunderloch remains a benchmark of Rheinhessen winemaking, celebrated globally for its pure fruit expression, tension, and vibrant acidity.
