Gunderloch's 'Red Stone' Riesling is a liquid tribute to the iconic 'Roter Hang' (Red Slope) of the Rheinhessen, a striking cliffside of 180-million-year-old red clay-slate that plunges toward the Rhine River. This iron-rich soil, known locally as Rotliegend, absorbs the sun's heat during the day and radiates it back to the vines at night, imparting a distinct smoky minerality and lush stone fruit character to the grapes. Crafted by Johannes Hasselbach, this estate Riesling captures the vibrant energy of the region. It is fermented in stainless steel to preserve its pristine fruit purity, resulting in a wine that beautifully balances crisp, electric acidity with a touch of natural residual sweetness, embodying the classic, approachable side of Nierstein's legendary terroir.

Weingut Gunderloch blev grundlagt i 1890 af bankmanden Carl Gunderloch og er en højt respekteret vingård beliggende i Nackenheim ved Rhinen i den tyske vinregion Rheinhessen. I dag drives vingården med stor omhu af Hasselbach-familien gennem flere generationer. Gunderloch er især berømt for sine historiske parceller på de stejle, røde skiferterrasser i den legendariske Roter Hang – med grand cru-marken Nackenheimer Rothenberg som det ubestridte højdepunkt.
