✨ wine.spec_sheet

The Master Blenders Selection No 5 is a rare, single-batch Cognac that showcases the personal creativity of Hennessy’s eighth-generation Master Blender, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde. Unlike the house's classic expressions which demand absolute consistency year after year, this limited-edition release is a unique, one-off creation. Crafted primarily from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the chalky soils of the Cognac region, the eaux-de-vie are double-distilled in traditional copper Charentais alembic stills. For Selection No 5, the Master Blender selected specific eaux-de-vie aged in both young, active French oak casks to impart structure and spice, and older, seasoned barrels to refine the spirit. The result is an expressive, robust Cognac bottled at a slightly higher 43% ABV, offering a complex profile of toasted spices, candied orange peel, cocoa, and delicate woody notes that will never be replicated.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy in the historic town of Cognac, France, Hennessy has grown to become the world's most celebrated Cognac house. Headquartered on the banks of the Charente River along Rue de la Richonne, the house is renowned for its centuries-old blending heritage, famously guided by eight generations of master blenders from the Fillioux family. Utilizing traditional double-distillation in copper Charentais alembic stills, Hennessy ages its precious eaux-de-vie in French oak casks sourced from the Limousin forest to develop unparalleled complexity and depth. The estate's legendary portfolio is defined by iconic expressions such as the VSOP Privilège, the pioneering XO Cognac—a category first created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870—and the exquisite, ultra-premium Hennessy Paradis.
