✨ Technical Specifications

The Fût de Chêne MV (Multi-Vintage) series by Henri Giraud represents the pinnacle of the house's revolutionary approach to Champagne making, blending the precision of a single base year with the depth of a perpetual reserve. The MV13 is anchored in the exceptional 2013 harvest from the historic Grand Cru terroir of Aÿ. True to the house's signature philosophy, this cuvée is vinified and aged in oak casks sourced exclusively from the nearby Argonne Forest, a practice revived by Claude Giraud to restore the historical relationship between local wood and local wine. This wood-infusion imparts a legendary vinous texture, structure, and complex oxidative notes of toasted brioche, baked stone fruits, and honeyed spices. The historic village of Aÿ, celebrated since the reign of King Henri IV (who famously styled himself the 'Sire d'Aÿ'), provides the chalky soils that give this Pinot Noir-dominant blend its intense mineral drive and powerful, aristocratic weight.

🍾 About the Producer

Tracing its viticultural heritage in the Grand Cru village of Aÿ back to 1625 through the Hémart family, Champagne Henri Giraud is one of the most distinctive and artisanal Champagne houses. Today steered by Claude Giraud, the twelfth generation of the founding family, the estate is celebrated for reviving the historic tradition of vinifying and maturing Champagne exclusively in local oak barrels sourced from the nearby Forest of Argonne. Embracing organic practices and minimal intervention, Giraud champions powerful, Pinot Noir-dominant cuvées marked by intense vinous complexity, fine salinity, and exceptional aging potential. Iconic expressions such as the prestige cuvée Argonne, the Fût de Chêne MV series, and Hommage à François Hémart epitomize the house's dedication to terroir-driven richness and visionary craftsmanship.
