The Winninger Kirchberg is one of the Terrassenmosel's most dramatic sites, where vines cling to dizzyingly steep, terraced cliffs of dark Devonian slate interspersed with quartzite. This unique geological composition gives the Kirchberg Riesling GG its signature flinty, smoky minerality and intense structural drive. Heymann-Löwenstein's approach in this vineyard is defined by minimal intervention: the grapes are harvested by hand, gently pressed, and fermented spontaneously with wild yeasts in traditional large oak fuder casks. Extended contact with the lees imparts a rich, textured mouthfeel that beautifully balances the wine's razor-sharp acidity and vibrant stone fruit and herbal notes. The resulting Grosses Gewächs is a profound expression of place, capturing the raw, wild energy of the Mosel's ancient slate terraces.

Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein blev grundlagt i 1980 af Reinhard Löwenstein og Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein og ligger i Winningen i Tysklands dramatiske, stejle Terrassenmosel. Vinhuset er anerkendt som en banebrydende pioner inden for terroirpræget, tør Mosel-Riesling og arbejder ud fra en filosofi om minimal indgriben i kælderen, spontangæring med vildgær samt omhyggelig økologisk dyrkning på de ekstreme skiferterrasser.
