The 'Schieferterrassen' (slate terraces) serves as Heymann-Löwenstein's magnificent calling card, capturing the dramatic spirit of the Terrassenmosel. Sourced from incredibly steep, terraced vineyards in Winningen where vines cling to weathered Devonian slate soils, this wine is a masterclass in mineral expression. The estate's philosophy views wine as a liquid translation of rock, and this bottling embodies that connection. The grapes are harvested by hand on dizzying slopes that require heroic manual labor, followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and extended aging on the lees in traditional large oak casks. This low-intervention approach coaxes out a textured, complex, and intensely mineral Riesling that offers a dry, structural, and deeply aromatic profile rich with wild herbs, stone fruit, and smoky slate notes.

Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein blev grundlagt i 1980 af Reinhard Löwenstein og Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein og ligger i Winningen i Tysklands dramatiske, stejle Terrassenmosel. Vinhuset er anerkendt som en banebrydende pioner inden for terroirpræget, tør Mosel-Riesling og arbejder ud fra en filosofi om minimal indgriben i kælderen, spontangæring med vildgær samt omhyggelig økologisk dyrkning på de ekstreme skiferterrasser.
