The Uhlen vineyard in Winningen is one of the Mosel's most dramatic and steep sites, where vines cling to terraces carved into the sheer rock face. Within this legendary site lies the 'Laubach' parcel, famous for its unique geological composition: a layer of grey slate infused with fossilized limestone from an ancient Devonian coral reef. This rare limestone influence imparts a distinct, chalky elegance and structural breadth to the Riesling. In exceptional years, when autumn mists from the Mosel river encourage the development of noble rot, the estate crafts their rare Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA). The grapes are painstakingly harvested by hand, berry by shriveled berry, selecting only those fully concentrated by botrytis. Fermented slowly with wild yeasts, this liquid gold balances luscious, honeyed sweetness with the electric, vibrating acidity characteristic of the Terrassenmosel.

Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein blev grundlagt i 1980 af Reinhard Löwenstein og Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein og ligger i Winningen i Tysklands dramatiske, stejle Terrassenmosel. Vinhuset er anerkendt som en banebrydende pioner inden for terroirpræget, tør Mosel-Riesling og arbejder ud fra en filosofi om minimal indgriben i kælderen, spontangæring med vildgær samt omhyggelig økologisk dyrkning på de ekstreme skiferterrasser.
