Highland Park, established in 1798 on the remote Orkney Islands, is deeply intertwined with Viking heritage and Orkney folklore. Legend has it that the distillery's founder, Magnus Eunson, was a direct descendant of Viking pioneers who used his position as a church officer to hide illicit casks under the pulpit. This extraordinary 30-year-old single malt is shaped by Orkney's unique, wind-swept terroir. Lacking trees, the island's Hobbister Moor peat is composed almost entirely of decomposed heather, which imparts a distinctly sweet, floral, and aromatic smoke rather than the medicinal character found in Islay whiskies. Slowly matured for three decades in hand-selected, sherry-seasoned oak casks, this expression represents the pinnacle of Highland Park's craftsmanship, offering an incredibly complex profile of rich dried fruits, warm spices, dark chocolate, and whisper-soft peat smoke.
