✨ Technical Specifications

Hailing from the wind-swept Orkney Islands, this extraordinary single malt represents a marriage of Highland Park's legendary distillery character and the curation of independent bottler Càrn Mòr under their prestigious 'Celebration of the Cask Black Gold' series. Highland Park, founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson—a direct descendant of Viking settlers—is renowned for using peat cut from the nearby Hobbister Moor. This unique peat, rich in heather and free of wood, imparts a distinctively sweet, aromatic floral smoke. The 'Black Gold' designation highlights the selection of an exceptionally dark, active sherry cask for maturation, resulting in a deeply complex spirit where the distillery's signature heather honey and gentle maritime smoke fuse beautifully with decadent notes of dried dark fruits, espresso, and warming spices.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1798 in Kirkwall on the remote archipelago of Orkney, Highland Park stands as one of Scotland's most historic and northernmost single malt distilleries. Owned by the Edrington Group, the distillery fiercely guards traditional whisky-making practices, still conducting its own hand-turned floor maltings and cutting dense, heather-rich peat from nearby Hobbister Moor. Maturation takes place predominantly in premium sherry-seasoned oak casks within Orkney's cool, windswept maritime climate. This unique convergence of terroir and technique yields Highland Park's internationally revered signature style, distinguished by gentle aromatic peat smoke, luscious heather-honey sweetness, and rich, complex spice.
