Highland Park, nestled on the windswept Orkney Islands, is one of Scotland's most historic distilleries, steeped in Viking heritage and legendary lore. Founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson—a direct descendant of Viking settlers who operated an illicit still under the cover of night—the distillery is famous for its traditional hand-turned floor maltings and the use of local Hobbister Moor peat. This peat, rich in decomposed heather and devoid of wood due to the harsh island gales, imparts a distinctively sweet, floral, and aromatic smoke. The 'Full Cask' No 10, matured in a traditional hogshead cask, showcases this unique maritime terroir, marrying heather-honey sweetness with gentle peat smoke, coastal brine, and a rich, oily texture derived from slow distillation and patient maturation in the cool, damp Orkney climate.
