Hailing from the wind-swept Orkney Islands, Highland Park is one of Scotland's most remote and historic distilleries, founded in 1798 by the legendary smuggler Magnus Eunson. This 'Full Cask' No 49 is a single cask expression aged in a traditional hogshead, showcasing the distillery's unique maritime terroir. Orkney's climate is famously treeless and battered by salt-laden gales, meaning the local peat sourced from Hobbister Moor is composed entirely of decomposed heather rather than wood. This imparts a distinctive, sweet, aromatic heathery smoke rather than the medicinal peat of the Islay malts.
