Hailing from the wind-swept Orkney Islands, Highland Park is steeped in Norse mythology and Viking heritage. The Ice Edition 17 Year Old is a stunning tribute to Niflheim, the mythical Norse realm of ice and snow. Unlike Highland Park's traditional reliance on sherry-seasoned oak, this expression was matured predominantly in ex-bourbon casks. This choice coaxes out a brighter, more ethereal profile of tropical fruits, cool mint, and vanilla, beautifully balanced by the distillery's signature aromatic peat smoke. The presentation itself—a custom-sculpted blue glass bottle cradled in a wooden frame reminiscent of a mountain peak—evokes the stark, dramatic beauty of the northern Scottish islands.

Highland Park blev grundlagt i 1798 i Kirkwall på det afsidesliggende Orkney-øhav og er et af Skotlands mest traditionsrige og nordligst beliggende single malt-destillerier. Destilleriet, som i dag er ejet af Edrington Group, værner kompromisløst om det klassiske whiskyhåndværk; her praktiserer man fortsat traditionel gulvmaltning med håndkraft og høster tæt, lyngmættet tørv fra den nærliggende Hobbister Moor. Modningen foregår primært på udsøgte sherrytilsmagte egetræsfade i Orkneys kølige, vindblæste kystklima.
