Hailing from the wind-swept Orkney Islands, Highland Park is one of Scotland's most remote and historic distilleries, founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, a direct descendant of Viking settlers. This single malt, matured in a single refill hogshead (Cask No 1023), showcases the distillery's legendary maritime character. Orkney's treeless, gale-brushed landscape produces a unique peat composed almost entirely of decomposing heather. When burned to dry the malted barley, it imparts a delicate, aromatic, and sweet floral smoke rather than the medicinal, heavy peat found in Islay whiskies.
