Hailing from the wind-swept Orkney Islands of Scotland, Highland Park is one of the northernmost distilleries in the world, founded in 1798 by the legendary smuggler and church officer Magnus Eunson. The 'Viking Honour' 12 Year Old pays homage to the Norse ancestry of Orkney, where Viking heritage remains deeply woven into the local culture. This single malt is defined by its unique island terroir; the absence of trees on Orkney means the local peat is composed almost entirely of decomposed heather, imparting a distinctively sweet, floral, and aromatic smoke. Distilled using traditional floor-malted barley, the spirit is matured predominantly in hand-selected sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, resulting in a complex harmony of sweet heather honey, rich fruitcake, warm winter spices, and gentle peat smoke.
