The Pommard Cuvée Billardet is steeped in the rich philanthropic history of the Hospices de Beaune. Named in honor of the Billardet family—notably Antoine Billardet, a dedicated physician during the French Revolution, and his son Charles, who bequeathed a significant portion of his estate to the Hospices in 1890—this cuvée is crafted from select Pinot Noir parcels within the prestigious Pommard appellation. The vines, situated in renowned climats such as Les Noizons and Les Arvelets, thrive on iron-rich clay and limestone soils. This terroir imparts the signature muscular structure, deep color, and intense dark fruit profile characteristic of classic Pommard. Traditionally auctioned in barrel on the third Sunday of November, the wine is subsequently raised by selected négociants, evolving into a powerful, complex Burgundy that beautifully marries historical legacy with terroir-driven excellence.

Hospices de Beaune blev grundlagt i 1443 af Nicolas Rolin, kansler for hertugen af Bourgogne, og hans hustru Guigone de Salins. Institutionen blev etableret som et velgørende hospital og blev fra begyndelsen finansieret via donationer af førsteklasses vinmarker. I dag råder det historiske domæne over mere end 60 hektar fremragende placerede Premier og Grand Cru-vinmarker fordelt over Côte de Beaune og Côte de Nuits. Ejendommen er verdenskendt for sin legendariske velgørenhedsauktion, som er blevet afholdt hver november siden 1859.
