✨ Technical Specifications
Hugel & Fils, established in the picturesque medieval village of Riquewihr in 1639, is one of Alsace's most venerable wine dynasties. The 'Classic' Pinot Blanc is a quintessential representation of the region's everyday drinking wine, historically referred to as the 'daily bread' of Alsatian tables. Although labeled as Pinot Blanc, this cuvée is actually a traditional blend of Pinot Blanc and its sibling Auxerrois, a combination permitted under Alsace AOC rules that marries the structural freshness of the former with the fleshy, stone-fruit richness of the latter. Sourced from clay and limestone vineyards surrounding Riquewihr, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled vats and large, historic oak foudres. This process preserves the vibrant primary fruit while imparting a subtle, rounded texture, embodying the Hugel family's centuries-old philosophy of letting the natural character of the grape shine without excessive oak influence.
