The Chemin de Châlons lieu-dit is a legendary micro-parcel located in the Grand Cru village of Cramant, within the Côte des Blancs. This south-facing slope benefits from generous sunlight combined with the classic, deep-lying Campanian chalk of the region. Under Anselme Selosse's radical vision, this single-vineyard bottling became a masterclass in terroir expression. Eschewing traditional Champagne blending, Selosse utilizes a perpetual reserve system to capture the historical memory of the vineyard. Fermented in oak casks with indigenous yeasts and bottled with minimal dosage, Chemin de Châlons is celebrated for its vinous, oxidative complexity, boasting notes of bruised apple, toasted brioche, and a profound, saline minerality that speaks directly of its chalky origins.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1949 in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Champagne Jacques Selosse rose to legendary status under the visionary leadership of Anselme Selosse, who took over the estate in 1974. Applying Burgundian winemaking philosophies to the Côte des Blancs, Anselme pioneered low yields, organic viticulture, and fermentation in oak casks, fundamentally transforming modern Champagne production. The estate is celebrated for its highly individualistic, terroir-driven cuvées, including the solera-aged Substance and the acclaimed Lieux-dits series, which showcase an unparalleled depth, oxidative complexity, and vinous character.
