Hailing from the legendary steep, south-facing slopes of the Grand Cru village of Aÿ, Jacques Selosse's 'Côte Faron' is a masterclass in Blanc de Noirs Champagne. Originally released under the name 'Contraste,' this cuvée is crafted entirely from Pinot Noir and aged using a perpetual reserve system, a method Anselme Selosse famously championed to express the multi-dimensional depth of terroir over individual vintage variation. The Côte Faron vineyard is renowned for its intense sun exposure and chalk-dominant soils, which impart a powerful, vinous structure balanced by a striking, saline minerality. Highly oxidative, complex, and deeply textured, this Champagne represents a revolutionary approach to sparkling winemaking, offering notes of bruised apple, toasted brioche, and exotic spices.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1949 in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Champagne Jacques Selosse rose to legendary status under the visionary leadership of Anselme Selosse, who took over the estate in 1974. Applying Burgundian winemaking philosophies to the Côte des Blancs, Anselme pioneered low yields, organic viticulture, and fermentation in oak casks, fundamentally transforming modern Champagne production. The estate is celebrated for its highly individualistic, terroir-driven cuvées, including the solera-aged Substance and the acclaimed Lieux-dits series, which showcase an unparalleled depth, oxidative complexity, and vinous character.
