Jacques Selosse's Rosé Brut NV is a legendary, highly individualistic expression that challenges the traditional paradigms of rosé Champagne. Crafted by Anselme Selosse, this cuvée is primarily a Chardonnay-based Champagne sourced from the Grand Cru slopes of Avize, which is then blended with a small percentage of still Pinot Noir. In a beautiful testament to camaraderie among grower-producers, this still red wine has historically been sourced from Anselme's close friend, Francis Egly of Champagne Egly-Ouriet in Ambonnay. Fermented and aged in oak casks using indigenous yeasts, the wine undergoes a solera-like blending process before bottling. The result is a deeply vinous, copper-hued rosé characterized by Selosse's signature oxidative complexity, wild strawberry notes, exotic spices, and a profound, mineral-driven finish.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1949 in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Champagne Jacques Selosse rose to legendary status under the visionary leadership of Anselme Selosse, who took over the estate in 1974. Applying Burgundian winemaking philosophies to the Côte des Blancs, Anselme pioneered low yields, organic viticulture, and fermentation in oak casks, fundamentally transforming modern Champagne production. The estate is celebrated for its highly individualistic, terroir-driven cuvées, including the solera-aged Substance and the acclaimed Lieux-dits series, which showcase an unparalleled depth, oxidative complexity, and vinous character.
