Representing the pinnacle of white winemaking in the Côte de Beaune, Jean-Marc Pillot's Premier Cru white wines are a masterclass in Chassagne-Montrachet's legendary terroir. Pillot, representing the fourth generation of his family to tend these historic slopes, coaxes incredible depth and energy from the region's classic clay-and-limestone soils. The village of Chassagne appended the name of its most famous grand cru, Montrachet, in 1879, cementing its reputation for producing some of the world's finest white wines. Pillot's Premier Cru whites are crafted using traditional methods, including hand-harvesting, fermentation with native yeasts, and aging in French oak barrels with a very disciplined approach to new wood. Taking the reins in 1991 and now joined by his son Antonin, Jean-Marc represents the latest generation to steward the family's historic parcels with a philosophy focused on organic practices, careful canopy management, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The domaine spans premier sites across Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Santenay, crafting wines that authentically reflect their underlying limestone and clay terroirs.
