While Jim Beam is globally synonymous with Kentucky Bourbon, their Straight Rye represents a nod to America's original whiskey heritage. Dating back to the late 18th century when Pennsylvania and Maryland distillers favored rye, this style was the dominant American spirit before Prohibition. Jim Beam's iteration is a classic Kentucky-style rye, distilled from a mash bill containing at least 51% rye alongside corn and malted barley, then aged in newly charred American white oak barrels. This mash bill strikes a harmonious balance, tempering the assertive, peppery spice of rye with the sweet, mellow corn notes characteristic of the Bluegrass State's limestone-filtered water and unique climate.

Established in 1795 by Jacob Beam, the James B. Beam Distilling Co. stands as the preeminent pillar of Kentucky bourbon heritage. Situated in Clermont, Kentucky, amidst the rolling limestone hills of Bullitt and Nelson counties, the distillery leverages the region’s calcium-rich, iron-free spring water, which naturally purifies the mash and enhances clarity. The production philosophy centers on a proprietary heirloom yeast strain maintained continuously since the repeal of Prohibition, combined with a sour-mash fermentation method and traditional column still distillation. Maturation occurs in heavily charred, new American white oak barrels held in multi-story open-air rickhouses, subject to the drastic seasonal temperature swings of the continental climate that drive deep wood extraction. Under the stewardship of seventh- and eighth-generation Master Distillers Fred Noe and Freddie Noe, the distillery produces benchmark expressions such as the iconic Jim Beam White Label, Single Barrel, Double Oak, and Straight Rye, maintaining an unbroken continuity of classic American whiskey craftsmanship.
