Johnnie Walker Blenders' Batch Espresso Roast (EXP#9) is a distinctive Scotch whisky born from the innovative spirit of the House of Walker, which traces its blending heritage back to John Walker's grocery shop in Kilmarnock in 1820. As part of the experimental Blenders' Batch series, this release represents a bold departure from traditional whisky making. Crafted by blender Aim e Morrison under the guidance of Master Blender Jim Beveridge, it utilizes heavily roasted malted barley—akin to the chocolate malt used in dark stouts and porter craft beers. This unique production method, combined with aging in first-fill charred American oak casks, coaxes out unusually rich, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and warm spice notes, showcasing the endless possibilities of Scotch whisky blending.
